Jenny Lewis sounds like Judee Sill (that's her in the video above) in that way that Jenny Toomey sounds like the very very young Tracey Thorne. Which is to say they all kind of have a similar kind of delivery (some less sardonic than others), which can all kind of be traced to Laura Nyro, perhaps?
I shouldn't be allowed to let my mind wander, really. This is what I think about.
