The Rich Girls Are Weeping

06 September 2006

Candy <3's The Thermals. Remember that time we went to see The Thermals, and I was like, the oldest person there? Kind of like that time going to see The Weakerthans made me feel utterly geriatric. Anywho, The Thermals' new album, the body, the blood, the machine, is a grower; didn't like it much at first, but I'm catching on finally. Is it bad that this video helped? It's got so many cameos of PACNW peeps, just like that Decemberists video of yore. Extra points if you can name everyone -- not just Emo's Indie's The Major Labels' Ben Gibbard Colin Meloy. (see comments)

The Thermals -- I Know The Pattern (from More Parts Per Million)
The Thermals -- A Stare Like Yours (from Fuckin' A)

The thing to catch in this video is not all the cameos (I only got the guy from Panther...although I thought that was Colin Meloy instead of Ben Gibbard...shrug) but the moment at 0:43 when they do Lindsay and GOB's chicken dances from Arrested Development.

OMG, it's happened. CM and BG have become INTERCHANGEABLE.

Of course I meant CM, duh, self. He's from Portland.

My bad!

ps -- I am the only hipster/nerd in the world who wasn't obsessed with Arrested Development.

I didn't think it was funny.

Kathryn: I remember, you txt'd me from that show to tell me as much! (;

I also felt old at the last Rilo Kiley show @ Emo's. That was when the drunk 16 year old girl barfed on my foot. :P

Don't feel too bad. Dan thought it was Ben, too. I can tell the difference only because I've seen Colin play by himself a lot more than Dan has. And it looked JUST LIKE THAT.

Oh, Portland. It's not even really PacNW. It's just... Portland.

Hutch Harris, lookin' good. Also, I'm sorry, but that song sounds like Piebald.

Oh, KATE! Now all I can think is that the whole record sounds like Piebald now. Meh. I don't even like them!

(And, well, I feel better if Dan made the same mistake.)

Haha! Shit. Sorry. And, uh, I don't like Piebald either. I'm just sayin'...

I'd, ahem, like to hear that album. Therms, not 'Balds.

Why does everyone link to shitty youTube, at least link to the director's (Whitey) site.
http://www.whiteyfilms.com/thermals.html

He personally told me he doesn't like people linking to his videos in YouTube. The quality insults his creativity. I mean seriously, why make a beautiful video if everyone is gonna watch it in such a low res fashion. Have some respect for yourself.

You can also link to:
http://www.shotsringout.com
They post videos that are Whitey approved!

or just to SubPop themselves.

anon, you're totes hilarious! welcome to the club. (;

come by again soon.

and ugh, what is this, gang up on cindy day? can't please everyone, apparently. look, the reason people use youtube is because one can imbed video easily into one's blog and people will actually watch it as they don't need any special software. futhermore, i imbedded the version POSTED BY THE DIRECTOR HIMSELF ON YOUTUBE. um, so there? or something? don't come dropping names and makin' trouble without doing your research, please. thank you!

ps -- and what does that have to do with having respect for myself? you lost me there.
